Game Comments: Mackenzie Snow kicked off scoring for Our Lady of Lourdes for today's first 8-1A quarterfinal matchup with a made free throw and layup to give her team a 3-0 lead over Monroe. Alyssa Heerman's offensive rebound and basket put Monroe on the scoreboard with 4:16 remaining in the 1st quarter. Heerman and Malena Wade's shots gave the Flyers of Monroe a 3-point lead and brought the score to 6-3. Randilyn Light-Smith sank 1 of 2 free throws to extend the Flyers' lead, but aOur Lady of Lourdes was ahead 8-7 with 1:33 left in the first period. The Lancers held an 11-7 lead to close out the 1st quarter. Our Lady of Lourdes came out firing in the 2nd quarter and went on a 6-0 run in the first minute - 2-pointers from Jadyn Swan and Mackenzie Terrell brought the Flyers within 3 points with 2 minutes remaining in the first half. Our Lady of Lourdes consistently took advantage of fast break opportunities and strong passing around the perimeter to maintain a 19-16 lead over the Flyers; a jumper in the paint closed out the 2nd quarter and Our Lady of Lourdes held a 22-16 lead.

Our Lady of Lourdes extended their first half lead to 16 points halfway through the 3rd quarter and the Lancers' offense was relentless - 3rd quarter finished with the Lancers in the lead 41-23. The Lancers' Kaylee Kliest had her first 2 points of the game with 3:47 left - Monroe trailed 52-24. The Flyers fought until the last minute, but the Lancers came away with the victory after outscoring Monroe 15-2 in the 4th quarter.

Congratulations to the Flyers of Bartonville Monroe as they finished their season with a record of 11 wins and 12 losses. Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes will play in the first semifinal game at 5:00 pm tonight at Clinton Junior High School against the winner of the Ashland A-C Central v. Pontiac St. Mary's game.
