Game Comments: Today's last quarterfinal game features the Hilltoppers of Danville Schlarman and the Lockport Taft Vikings. Schlarman jumped to an early 8-4 lead and pressed on to bring the score to 12-4 with 2:09 remaining in the first period; the Hilltoppers held the lead 12-6 to close out the 1st quarter. Cecilia Damilano made good on a 3-pointer and Tannah Ceader followed with 2 points to put Schlarman ahead 17-6. Addie Fernandes heated up the coring for Taft with a 2-pointer and Taft took control back of the ball after Schlarman had a 3-second lane violation. Taft cut the Hilltoppers' lead to 6 in the 2nd quarter but Schlarman closed the first half ahead 21-13.

Schlarman maintained full-court pressure, but Taft brought the score to 23-19. Taft came within 2 points when Olivia Arias made both free throws after a technical foul was issued to Schlarman. Lanie Scott made both free throws to give the Hilltoppers a 4-point lead with 1:18 remaining in the quarter, but Addie Fernandes banked a shot to get the Viking within 1 point with 44 seconds left. Schlarman's Tannah Ceader sank a 3-pointer to close the 3rd quarter 28-24. Fernandes had another 2 jumpers that put the Vikings within 4 points of Schlarman, but Ceader hit another 2 pointer; timeout was called with 1:56 left in the game and the Vikings trailing by 5 points. Schlarman extended their lead by 9 points with less than 1 minute remaining and kept possession of the ball until the final horn.

Congratulations to the Vikings of Lockport Taft for finishing their season with 14 wins and 5 losses. The Schlarman Hilltoppers will face the Lexington Minutemen in tonight's 6:30 semifinal game.
