Game Comments: Tonight's first semifinal game featured the Ashland A-C Central Lady Knights and the Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes Lancers. Scoring got off to a quick start as the Lancers took an 8-4 lead with 2:09 remaining. Bailey Wallbaum made 2 free throws to bring the Lady Knights within 2 points. Addison Newbon fought through defensive pressure to put the Lancers ahead, but the Lady Knights fought back and came within 4 points to finish the quarter 12-8 with Our Lady of Lourdes in the lead. The 2nd quarter kicked off with a successful move by Mackenzie Snow to keep the Lancers momentum moving forward. The Lady Knights' crowd erupted when Allison Roberts scored 2 points and the Lancers' crowd did just the same with Abby Robinson's steal and layup. With less than a minute left, the Lancers had possession of the ball, lost it and Addison Newbon regained it to score a 2-pointer - Our Lady of Lourdes maintained a 20-12 lead going into halftime.

Allison Roberts' 2 free throws brought A-C Central into a single-digit deficit, but Our Lady of Lourdes answered back with another 2 points to bring the score to 25-14 and the Lancers in the lead. A Mackenzie Snow jumper extended the Lancers' lead by 13 but a traveling call on Addison Newbon gave the Lady Knights possession again. Bailey Wallbaum used an effective screen to get around her defender and bring the score to 27-16. The 3rd quarter finished with Our Lady of Lourdes ahead 27-16. Our Lady of Lourdes held the Lady Knights of A-C Central scoreless during the 4th quarter until Bailey Wallbaum scored 2 points with 1:28 remaining in the game. The Lady Knights continued to push, but Our Lady of Lourdes came out on top with a final score of 34-21.

Both teams will continue their seasons Thursday night at Clinton Junior High School. A-C Central will face the loser of the Lexington-Schlarman game at 6:00 pm for the 3rd place trophy. Our Lady of Lourdes will face the winner of the Lexington-Schlarman game at 7:30 pm for the 8-1A state championship.
