Game Comments: Tonight's championship game feaured the Minutemen of Lexington against the Lancers from Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes - both teams scored 4 points to kick off this game, but the cheers of the Lexington crowd were deafening when Jayden Standish hit a 3-pointer to take a 7-4 lead. Lexington scored another 2 points that prompted a Lancers timeout with 1:18 remaining in the 1st quarter. The 1st period ended with the Lexington Minutemen ahead 12-4. Mackenzie Snow scored 3 points for Our Lady of Lourdes to keep the Lancers in the game and bring the deficit to single digits. Lexington maintained their offensive tempo and continued to excite their fans as they approached a 17-9 lead with 3 minutes left in the second quarter. The Lancers' Abby Robinson drew the foul and made both of her free throws to bring the Lancers within 8 points. Layken McGuire's drive through the paint scored her team another 2 points and giving the Minutemen another 8-point advantage but Addison Newbon was fouled and her successful free throw brought the score to 19-12 with 35.2 seconds remaining in the first half. The Minutemen scored another 2 points in the final seconds of the second quarter and held a 21-12 lead going into halftime.

Both teams traded baskets going into the second half of tonight's championship game. Lexington jumped to a 29-14 lead with 3:33 remaining after a baseline jumper from Jayden Standish. Our Lady of Lourdes drove through the lane for an uncontested layup to bring the Lancers within 13 points and another Lancer basket made the score 29-18. A Lexington turnover returned possession of the ball to Our Lady of Lourdes, but the Minutemen reclaimed the ball. The intensity continued for the rest of the half and timeout was called with Lexington ahead 29-20 - they held this lead going into the 4th quarter. Like the start of the 3rd quarter, Lexington and Decatur traded baskets to continue a 9-point lead for the Minutemen. Despite pressure from Our Lady of Lourdes, the Minutemen maintained control while in possession of the ball. Our Lady of Lourdes called timeout after an Addie Fyke 2-pointer brought her team within 8 points of Lexington.

Both teams played an electric game! Lexington finishes the season with a record of 25 wins and 2 losses; Our Lady of Lourdes finishes their season with a 24-2 record - congratulations to both teams on their successes!
