Game Comments: Tonight's battle for 3rd place in the IESA 8-1A state tournament features Ashland A-C Central and Danville Schlarman. Allison Roberts kicked off scoring for A-C Central with a 2-pointer in the paint. Capria went to the free throw line as she was fouled by Rileigh Renncker; Brown made both free throws to put Schlarman on the board but still trailing 4-2. Chian Scott tied up the game and Emma Bogen gave Schlarman a lead of 7-4 and Tannah Ceader followed with a layup to extend the lead 9-4. Left open at the top of the key, Bailey Wallbaum made the last 2 points of the quarter to finish out the period with Schlarman ahead 9-6. Emma Stone's offensive rebound and shot put A-C Central within 1 point to start the 2nd quarter, but Chian Scott answered with a 3-pointer to put Schlarman ahead 12-8. Maggie Merwin's layup put the Lady Knights' scoring into double digits and Capria's long 3-pointer brought the score to 17-10 with 21.7 seconds remaining in the first half - Bailey Wallbaum closed out scoring in the 2nd quarter for both teams.

With 1:25 remaining in the 3rd quarter, Schlarman maintained a 21-15 lead. Kassidy Kirchner had a steal and a layup to put A-C Central within 4 points. On the Lady Knights' next trip up the court, a Bailey Wallbaum screen for Kyia Privia allowed for another 2 points to end the 3rd quarter with A-C Central trailing by just 2 points, 21-19. Schlarman pushed ahead to 25-21, but A-C Central remained in the game with 4:28 remaining in the 4th quarter - Capria Brown sank 2 free throws to put her team ahead 27-23 and this prompted an A-C Central timeout with 3:39 left in this game. A-C Central couldn't the ball in in time so possession went back to Schlarman; Brown hit a 3-pointer to put the Hilltoppers ahead by 7. The game finished with Schlarman scoring the win 30-23.

Danville Schlarman finishes the season with 21 win and 2 losses and Ashland A-C Central finishes their season with 23 wins and 5 losses - congratulations to both teams, coaches, and student-athletes on an outstanding season!
