Game Comments: Jayden Standish began this semifinal game with a 3-pointer less than a minute into the game and another 2 Minutemen jumpers put Lexington ahead 8-0. Annika Cappis gave Lexington a 10-0 lead with her shot in the paint. Lanie Scott's free throw started Schlarman on the scoreboard. A Standish assist to Cappis gave the Minutemen a 16-1 lead and ultimately closed the 1st quarter ahead 18-1. Capria Brown returned for Schlarman in the 2nd quarter and scored 2 points to cut the deficit for her team. Lanie Scott scored a 3-pointer, but Lexington maintained a 20-16 lead. Schlarman called timeout with 2:11 remaining in the first half and they trailed 22-8 but Capria Brown hit a 3 with 31 seconds remaining to bring the score to 23-11 to close out the first half.

Layken McGuire kicked off scoring for Lexington with a 2-pointer, but Schlarman found themselves at the free throw line when Capria Brown was fouled - she made 1 of 2 free throws. On their next trip down the court, Lexington scored again to bring them ahead of the Hilltoppers 27-12. A Capria Brown assist to Chian Scott cut the Minutemen lead to 13 with minutes remaining in the 3rd period. The 3rd quarter finished with Lexington still ahead 31-16. Brown and Scott chipped away at the Minutemen lead to bring their team within 9 points of Lexington. Capria Brown and Layken McGuire traded 3 pointers with 3:45 remaining in the game and a Tannah Ceader jumper, along with a Capria Brown layup, put the Hilltoppers behind just 5 points at 34-29. Lexington put themselves ahead again by 7 and Schlarman called a timeout. With 2:15 remaining in the game, Chian Scott hit a 3-pointer to cut Lexington's lead to 5 points again. Cecelia Damilano hit a 3-pointer to bring Schlarman within 4 points with 5.8 seconds left in the game. Ultimately, Lexington came away with the win 45-40.

Lexington advances to the championship game against Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes at 7:30 pm on Thursday night; Schlarman will compete against Ashland A-C Central at the 6:00 pm game for the 3rd place trophy. Good luck to both teams as they continue their seasons!
