Game Comments: The Brimfield Indians defeated the Normal Epiphany Knights, 35-29 Tuesday evening to advance to the championship game of the 2005 IESA Class 8A girls basketball state tournament. Brimfield will enter that contest with a sparkling 25-1 record while Epiphany will take their 23-3 record into the consolation championship. Brimfield took a 23-20 lead into the fourth quarter and after Jackie McKown scored two quick buckets to extend the lead to seven, Epiphany finally answered with a reverse layup from Jamie Baldwin. Brinfield scored the next two baskets to extend their lead to 31-22 and appered to have the game in hand. However, the Knights made one final charge and managed to get as close as three at 32-29. A steal by the Knights with 1:21 remaining gave Epiphany a chance to tie. After a timeout to set up a play, Epiphany was called for an over and back violation that gave the ball back to Brimfield. Kelsey Herridge made two free throws for Brimfield with 1:00 remaining to lead by five and Epiphany failed to score the rest of the game.
