Game Comments: Normal Epiphany's ball press took its toll on Ottawa Wallace in the second quarter to break open a close game. The two teams were tied 6-6 after the first quarter, but pressure from Epiphany kept Wallace from getting the ball up court and into a shooting situation. Wallace did not score in the second quarter until Kelsey McClendon put a short shot in from the lane with :15.2 remaining in the quarter. A rebound basket by Jennifer Baldwin put Epiphany ahead 8-6 to start the second quarter and her rebound baseline jumper with 26 seconds left in the half game Epiphany its 17-8 halftime lead. Ottawa Wallace went 6:29 without a basket from the start of the second quarter, when the Warriors got the first two points of the third quarter at 5:53, until Katie Duffy hit a layup with 5:24 to go in the game. In the meantime, Kristin Neill scored three baskets to end the third quartrer scoring and give Epiphany its 27-10 lead after three quarters. Wallace was ice cold from the field most of the game, but the Warriors did put a clamp on Epiphany's outside shooter, Carly Norton. Norton set the IESA all-time single game three-point record with 7 in the first round game Saturday, but went without a field goal of any kind today. She was 3-4 from the free throw line. Epiphany advances to the first semifinal game Tuesday night at 6:00 and ups its season record to 23-2. Ottawa Wallace ended its season at 16-8. |
