Game Comments: Emotions were running high in this semifinal classic, as Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes grinded out a 39-31 victory over Sigel St. Michael's 39-31. Jacolby Boston was hot early from the field, notching six of his eventual eight points to give the Lancers an early first quarter lead. Right back came Sigel St. Michael's potent offensive attack, spreading the ball around the court to take a 9-8 lead heading into the second. Rashan Smith of Decatur Our Lady Lourdes had a monster night, as he opened the second with back-to-back threes that brought the crowd alive. The Lancers would carry that momentum into halftime leading 19-14. After St. Pats was able to trim the lead to four entering the fourth quarter, Rashan Smith once again took over for his team. Totaling 10 of his game high 20 in the fourth quarter, number 11 put his team on his back as the Lancers pulled away late for the victory. Despite the loss, St. Pats was as gusty as they come in defeat with all five starters scoring 4 or more points.
The victory sends Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes into the 8-1A state finals against Oglesby Holy Family. Tip-off is next Thursday, February 14 at 7:30pm.
Sigel St. Michael's will do battle against Peoria St. Mark for third place, which will get going at 6:00pm.
