Both teams had it going on offense early, as the first quarter saw each squad attempt multiple outside shots rather than driving to the bucket. After a 7-7 tie led us into the second, the Crusaders began to turn up the tempo. Nick Plankenhorn nailed two of his game high 5 three pointers in the second quarter to build the Oglesby Holy Family lead to four points heading into half. The Crusaders continued their hot streak following intermission, outscoring the Shamrocks 14-8 in the third quarter. Give Jacksonville Our Saviour credit however, as the Shamrocks hung tough throughout the second half specifically in the fourth quarter. Jack Whalen sank a team high 9 points for the Shamrocks, while Plankenhorn had 17 in support of Oglesby Holy Family. The Crusaders advance to the state semifinal awaiting the winner of today's Peoria St. Mark, Gardner quarterfinal contest. The semifinal tip-off is tonight at 5:00pm.
