With 0:26 remaining in the game, Seth Gooch of Unity made 1 of 2 free throw attempts to give the Rockets a 40-38 lead. Tolono then committed four fouls in the span of 14 seconds forcing Schrum to inbound the ball each time. Then with 10 seconds remaining, Robert Austin drove to the basket and was fouled in the act of shooting. Austin made the first of the two free throws to close the gap to 40-39. His second attempt rimmed out but neither team was able to control the rebound and a held ball was called with the possesion arrow in favor of Schrum. With 9 seconds to go, Schrum inbounded the ball under their basket.
