Match Comments: The final match-up of the night saw the Warriors of Athens take on the Braves of Mackinaw Dee Mack. Once again the Braves led with their stellar serving. #22 Hope McGinnes led servers in the first set with 3 aces and 9 total service points giving Mackinaw Dee Mack 10-2 lead before the Braves turned it back over on a big block by #39 Emily Simpson for Athens. #18 Makalea Sepich and #3 Skyler Jenkins net play led the attack for the Braves in the first set.
The second set saw the Braves take a quick lead again. #22 McGinnis and #18 Sepich combined for 4 aces and 15 points to give Dee Mack a 17-5 lead. #3 Jenkins had four key kills over two servers to give Mackinaw a 20-5 lead. #9 Shelby Debolt added to the net play with a key block late in the set. Dee Mack finished out the set 25-6.
Athens will play St. Joseph on Tuesday in the third place match for their first 7-3A trophy. Mackinaw Dee Mack will play Pleasant Plains in the 7-3 state title match on Tuesday.
