Match Comments: The second quarterfinal match-up pitted the Panthers of St. Joseph against the Dragons of Hillsboro. Both teams struggled with nerves early in the match trading side-out points until #23 Hannah Dukeman stepped up with her jump serve and rattled off a couple straight points to give the Panthers and the lead they would not relinquish in the set. The second set saw more of the same from both teams. St. Joseph worked into their offense a little more setting #10 Katelyn Berry behind the attack line for several kills. #4 Shelby Houchlei gave Hillsboro a lift serving in the set, but #23 Dukeman stepped in and rattled off three straight aces to close out the match.
Congratulations to Hillsboro on a great season. St. Joseph will play Pleasant Plains in the semifinal match at 1:00 today.
