Match Comments: In the second quarter-final of the day, the Dragons of Grant Park faced the Titans of Tri-County. In the first set, both teams were aggressive at the net. Grant Park had kills early from Quinn Mattson and Samantha English. The Titans answered back with some great net play from Jessica Massie and Becca Royer. The first set was close the entire way with both teams playing great defense and incredible saves. Late in the first set, Mattson took over for Grant Park and helped the team pull into the lead. Alison Smith kept things alive with a big block and a kill which tied up the score for the Titans. Several points later, it was Grace Burnside who, again, tied things up for the Titans. Kaitlyn McMahan had a great kill to put the Dragons in the lead and it was Olivia Garcia who served out the set. In the second set, the Titans regrouped and went out to an early lead behind the hitting of Alison Smith. Kaitlyn McMahan of Grant Park had two timely kills that narrowed the gap. Later in the set, it was the hitting of Mattson who started the Dragon come back. Alison Smith had a big block for the Titans at 21-16. Mattson tried to keep the Dragons alive with several kills near the end of the set, but it was Smith who served out the second set for the Titans. In the third set, Tri-County got out to an early lead. Smith had several kills and a block to push the lead for the Titans to 7-1. McMahan kick started the offense of the Dragons with 3 kills that brought the Dragons to 9-11. Later is the set, it was McMahan again that brought the Dragons back into the match with a huge kill to tie the game at 17. The Titans found an offensive groove behind the hitting of Burnside, Royer, and Jessica Massie which put the Titans up 20-19. Smith had a big block at 24-21 and Massie served out the match for the Titans.
