Game Comments: Eureka took on Gibson City in the first semi-final game of the night. Eureka took the early lead, but #12 Heffren took a ball to the face and had to sit out for minute and GCMS made a comeback. With #? Draining a three to tie the game at 12 in the first quarter. On a turnover from Eureka, GCMS converts a lay-up and ties the game at 16 apiece, but Eureka followed this on their next trip down the court with a 3 by #12 Hefren. Eureka took a 25-16 lead into the half-time.
Eureka’s transition offense continued to give the Hornets points in the second half. They increased their lead to 14 in third quarter play. The Hornet’s continued their dominate play and maintained a double digit lead through the rest of the game. Leading scorer for the game was #12 Courtney Heffren from Eureka.
Gibson City will play Thursday for third place and Eureka will play Thursday for the 8-3A state championship.
