Game Comments: In Wednesday's first semifinal contest of the evening, the Panthers of Edwardsville Liberty used an explosive third quarter to knock off the Spartans of Frankfort Summit Hill by the final score of 50-33. Early on in this semifinal battle, it was all Edwardsville Liberty, as three different Panthers tallied first quarter points to help aid a 12-5 lead. The second quarter was a much different story, as the Spartans came charging back courtesy of some key free throw shooting. Lily Hicks and Carolyn Waleski combined to go 6-6 from the charity stripe in the second to nudge their way back into the game. Throw in a couple Lani Grayer three pointers, and the Spartans had cut the lead down to just one heading into the half. Unfortunately for Frankfort Summit Hill, the Panthers came out on fire in the third quarter, outscoring the Spartans by an astounding 12 points to take a commanding 40-25 lead. Rachel Pranger led the third quarter shooting melee with eight points of her own, as the shooting performance of the Panthers was just too much to overcome for Frankfort Summit Hill. Kate Martin was a consistent force throughout the contest for Edwardsville Liberty, tallying a game high 18 points.

With the win, the Panthers of Edwardsville Liberty advance to the state championship game on Thursday night, as they will take on the winner of tonight's semifinal finale between Channahon and Chatham Glenwood. Frankfort Summit Hill will go for the third place title against tonight's runner-up.
