Game Comments: In a back and forth contest that had everyone on the edge of their seats, the Bombers of Mt. Olive trumped Bloomington Holy Trinity 25-22, capturing the Class 2A Girls State Championship. Early in this contest it was all Saints, as Bloomington Holy Trinity built a small first quarter lead using excellent ball movement up and down the floor. The second quarter saw much of the same, as the Saints controlled the pace, extending their lead to two heading into the half. The game changed from then on, as an inspired Mt. Olive squad emerged from the locker room determined to find their stroke. The Bombers bombed their way to an impressive eight point third quarter output, with Brianna Henke tallying three of her game high 11 points. The Saints suddenly were on the ropes, trailing for the first time heading into the game's final quarter. Hoping to slow down the now inspired Bomber offense, the Saints tried to slow play the first several possessions but it did little damage. Henke and her teammates continued their aggressive approach, notching eight more points in the fourth quarter adding to their lead. Down three with just under a minute to play, Bloomington Holy Trinity couldn't convert on consecutive possessions despite quality shots, leading to the eventual Bomber victory. Kate Hoerdemann had a tremendous game regardless of the outcome, notching four total field goals to give her nine points on the evening.

Congratulations to both teams on a terrific championship game!
