Game Comments: The last quarterfinal contest of the day pitted a pair of teams who displayed unbelievable heart and determination. Thanks to a late third quarter surge, Bloomington Holy Trinity defeated Altamont 37-26 to advance to the Class 2A semifinals. After a back and forth first half that saw the score remain tied at 11 through two quarters, the Wildcats of Altamont began the third quarter on a 7-0 run. Down 18-11, the Saints seemingly looked down for the count. That was until Maddie Holt and Kate Hoerdemann combined to score 12 points that sparked a Bloomington comeback. The Saints exploded for 20 third quarter points to take the lead for good, as they held Altamont to just three points in the 4th. Keidron Duckwitz did everything she could, especially early on, to give the Wildcats a chance but was unable to get things going in the post late. Duckwitz finished with 10 points on the afternoon.
Bloomington now advances to the semifinals against Mendon Unity.
Congratulations go out to both teams on a well played ball game.
