Early on, it was Peoria taking advantage of some second chance points to build a 8-3 1st quarter lead. Blue Ridge stormed back in the second, however, cutting the lead to just one thanks to some clutch jump shooting by the Knights. After a close first half that watched each team trade baskets seemingly every possession, the Tigers used strong third quarter defense to slow down the Knight offense. Mary O’Brien led all scorers with 16, as she and her Tiger teammates used an impressive 12 point 4th quarter to put away Blue Ridge. The Knights had opportunities late, but could only convert on 2 of 13 free throws throughout the contest. Alex Specht did her part for Blue Ridge, sinking six field goals, including three in the second. With the victory Peoria moves on to face the winner of Mt. Olive and Springfield Christ the King tonight in the semi finals.
