Game Comments: Taylor Hopkins and her Crest Hill Richland Eagles fended off a late surge from Paxton-Buckley-Loda, as they advance to the Class 3A State semifinals by the score of 26-22. Hopkins and company exploded for 16 1st quarter points and led by 10 going into the 2nd. From there however, points were tough to come by for the Eagles as Paxton’s savvy adjustments reduced the deficit to a mere four points entering the 4th quarter. Emma Fleming led the offensive charge for Paxton, scoring four in the third, as the momentum had seemingly shifted. Needing buckets late, the Panthers offense stalled while Crest Hill used tremendous ball movement to play keep-away that inevitably sealed the victory. The Eagles now have a semifinal date with undefeated Monticello tonight at 6:30pm.
