Game Comments: The Piasa Southwestern Piasa Birds improved to 27-0 by beating Springfield Grant 43-17 Saturday night setting up a clash of the unbeatens for the 8th grade 4A championship. Southwestern will now take on Normal Kingsley Thursday night as both teams will enter the game undefeated and shooting for a perfect season. Springfield Grant will face Champaign Jefferson for third place honors. Erin Laubscher led Southwestern with 17 points. She tied the class 4A record for most 3 point field goals in a game with 4. The Piasa Birds were in control for almost the entire game although Grant did make a bit of a run in the 3rd quarter. However, the Piasa Birds' pressure was just too much and they pulled away in the 4th quarter outscoring the Generals 16-2 in the 4th quarter. Congratulations to both teams.
