Game Comments: The Indians of Gillespie took on the Panthers of St. Joseph in the final semi-final match-up of the day. Both teams had 2 losses a piece in the regular season and looked strong in their quarterfinal games today. But after a time out the Indians found their groove working the ball into their posts on offense and getting out to prevent the three on defense. In the first three minutes of the second, the Indians went on a 6-0 run and took the lead. The Panthers finally found a basket at the two minute mark in the second quarter with a jumper in the lane by #4 Jaden McLain. Gillespie’s #43 Anthony Kravanya made a basket at the buzzer to cut St. Joseph’s small lead to two at the half.

The Panthers continued to hang around until they tied the game at the end of the quarter at 23 apiece. With three to play in the fourth quarter #25 Brayden Dable of St. Joseph drove the baseline to give the Panthers a two point lead before timeout was called by Gillespie. With two minutes to play #43 Kravanya had a beautiful jumper to cut St. Joseph lead to one 30-29. With 46 seconds to play #13 Billy Gill puts in a jumper into give Gillespie the lead 31-30. On the inbound play, St. Joseph works the ball into #25 Brayden Weaver who is fouled on the baseline drive. He makes his second free throw to tie the game at 31. As time wound down, #13 Gill grabbed the rebound on a missed shot and put it back for a Gillespie lead 33-31 with 10 seconds to play in the game. St. Joseph’s brought the ball in and quickly moved it up the court to call a time out with 5 seconds to play. They didn’t get a good look at the basket after their timeout and the clock ran out.
