Game Comments: The first match-up of the 7-3A state tournament saw the Farmers of Farmington Central take on the Warriors of Germantown Hills. The Warriors set the pace for the first half with their aggressive guard play and second chance points in the paint. They took an 11 point lead into the locker-room at the half. The Farmers came out of the half fired up and tied the game in the third quarter at 28 apiece. Their increased their intensity on defense and ability to convert several steals for easy baskets in the quarter helped bring them back into the game. The teams battled it out in the fourth quarter and emotions ran high for all the players. With seconds to go in the game Germantown Hills was up by 2. #13 Delton Powell stole the ball on an errant pass and drove the lane missing the basket, but was fouled. He made one of two to bring the Farmers within one point. The second free throw was rebounded by #33 Blake Springer who had a put back for two and gave the Farmers their first lead of the game. He missed the free throw and with 6 seconds to play the Warriors had one more shot. After bringing the ball up to half court they called time-out with four seconds to play to draw up a play, but on the inbound pass the ball got away from Germantown Hills and the game ended. Leading scorer for the game was Blake Springer of Farmington. Congratulations to both teams on a great game and terrific season. Farmington Central will play in the 5:00 semifinal game tonight.
