Game Comments: In a back and forth classic that went down to the game's final seconds, the Eagles of Mulberry Grove outlasted Chrisman Scottland 41-38, thus capturing the 7-1A Third Place title. In the battle of the birds, it was Chrisman Scottland that took an early lead to start the first quarter. Kyle Webster, who finished with a game high 12 points, controlled the boards early leading to several second chance buckets for Chrisman Scottland. Slowly but surely, however, Mulberry Grove clawed their way back thanks to some clutch free throw shooting via Joey Linnaberry. With the score now tied at 13 entering the second quarter, Mulberry Grove had seemingly stolen away the game's momentum. Quick ball movement and a fast tempo offense had the Eagles of Mulberry Grove in business, outscoring Chrisman Scottland 13-5 in the second quarter. Following halftime, Chrisman Scottland put together an impressive 5-point run to begin the third quarter. Combine that with some poor possessions from the Eagles of Mulberry Grove, and a once comfortable lead was now cut to five. As we fast forward to mid-fourth quarter, Chrisman Scottland was again knocking on door, but this time the resiliency of Mulberry Grove would take hold. Up by one with 30 seconds remaining, Cortland Latham answered the bell by sinking two critical free-throws that would eventually seal the victory. Four Mulberry Grove players were in double digits, as it was truly a team victory for the Eagles.
