Game Comments: Storming out of the gate to take an early 12-3 lead, the Braves of Annawan never looked back as they advanced past Mulberry Grove by the final score of 42-12. The first quarter offensive ambush was only part of the story, as it was the Braves defense that held Mulberry Grove to just eight first half points. The Braves used an array of defensive looks, forcing multiple turnovers that ignited the Annawan offense. Ben Buresh continued his terrific tournament play, netting 16 of his game high 26 points in the first half alone. Gracious in defeat, the Eagles continued to play hard throughout the contest with Javion Wright tallying five points to lead Mulberry Grove.
The Annawan victory steps up an IESA Class 1A State Championship showdown next Thursday, February 7th against the Roadrunners of Deterich. Game time is at 7:30pm. Mulberry will face off against Chrisman Scottland for Class 1A Third Place honors, with tip-off beginning at 6pm on Thursday.
