Match Comments: In the Championship match, the Cardinals of Pleasant Plains met the Braves of Mackinaw Dee-Mack. Kassie Rich had 2 quick kills for the Braves to put them on the scoreboard. A block by Bri Green put the ball back in the hands of the Cardinals and tied the score at 5. The Braves recovered the serve and cut the lead to 1 on a kill from Carson Smalley. A great defensive series by the Cardinals put Pleasant Plains up by 4. A block from the Braves Jessica Carithers cut the lead of the Cardinals to 3 points. A kill from Jade Garrett turned the momentum to the Pleasant Plains side of the court and put the ball into the hands of McKenzie Smith who fired in 3 aces for the Cardinals. The Braves struck back with 2 kills from Carson Smalley. Garrett finished the set for the Cardinals with a kill. In the second set, both teams traded points early. The Cardinals went ahead with 2 kills from Smith. The Braves came back and tied the score at 6 with a kill from Morgan Burr. Smith caught fire at the net near the end of the set with 2 kills and a block. The Cardinals continued to keep the offensive pressure on the Braves and they finished off the match.

Congratulations to Mackinaw Dee-Mack who finishes the season 25-3.

Congratulations to Pleasant Plains who finishes the season 25-1 and take home their 5th Class 8-3A State title.
