Match Comments: In the second quarterfinal of the day, the Braves of Mackinaw Dee-Mack met the Hawks of Riverton. The Braves took the first offensive strike behind the hitting of Addie Gruse who had two quick kills. The Braves were aggressive with their serving and built an early lead. The Hawks caught fire at the net behind the hitting of Kyla Sidener, Mackenzy Payne, and Kylie Rogers. Kaitlin Creager had a big kill for the Braves that tied up the score and put the ball in the hands of their server. Kassie Rich rattled off two aces that built the lead of the Braves. With the momentum on their side of the net, Carson Smalley and Rich had kills for the Braves that helped them close out the first set. The second set started off with more offensive attacks from the Braves. Gruse had two kills that helped put the Braves up by 1 early in the second set. Rich took over serving and had 2 aces that put the Braves up 3. Defensive saves put the ball back in the hands of the Hawks. Rylee Szoke tied up the score for the Hawks with a well-placed kill. Consistent passing brought the ball back to the Braves. Again, it was aggressive serving that extended the lead for the Mackinaw Dee-Mack. Morgan Burr had 3 consecutive aces that put the Braves up by 9 points. Gruse was active at the net late in the match for the Braves and closed out the set with a kill.
