Match Comments: The third place match saw the Panthers of Edwardsville Liberty take on the Tigers of Bourbonnais UGC. The Tigers took the early lead on the serving of #14 Mikayla Brandon serving9 consecutive service points. #21 Rachel Pranger brought the Panthers back within 2 in the set along with the hitting and blocking of Kate Martin and Megan Woll the Panthers were able to tie up the set and eventually take the lead. Brandon played well at the net for Bourbonnais with several key blocks. The teams traded sideout points at the end of the set off nice long rallies when Pranger strung together consecutive kills to give Liberty the lead. A kill by Autumn Clarke gave Bourbonnais the serve back and they tied it at 23. Another kill by Clarke gave the Tigers the lead and they were able to end out the set. The second set saw the Panthers take the early lead on the serving and hits by Woll. A beautiful block by Alexander-Hildebrand and Clarke gave the Tigers the serve, but the Panthers Pranger added a nice middle block and a tip to give Liberty a 10-6 lead. Strong serving by the Panthers gave them the second set tied at one set a piece. The final set saw the momentum continue with the Panthers at the start of the set. Bourbonnais struggled with their passing in the beginning of this set and the Panthers took advantage of these passes. Strong serving once again led Liberty in the final set of the match.
Congratulations to both teams on a great season.
