Match Comments: In the first quarterfinal match of the afternoon group, the Rockets of Rochester faced the Panthers of Pekin Edison. Both teams played a hard fought set, but services and passing errors plagued both teams. #3 Alexa Huerta played well at the net, but a nice tip by #18 Molly Flannigan took Edison to 24 and #6 Hannah Thompson had a cross court dink to give Edison the set. The teams continue to battle it out in the second set until the second rotation when #4 Maddy Cash stepped up and strung 5 consecutive service points together with one ace to give Pekin a cushion in their lead. Rochester continued to battle throughout the set, but was unable to make-up the deficit.
Congratulations to both teams on a great season. Pekin Edison will play tonight in the final semi-final match.
