Match Comments: In what was a nail biter till the very end, the Panthers of Pana JHS defeated St. Joseph in two sets to capture the Class 3A third place championship. During the early goings of set one, Pana JHS was in control thanks to an offensive explosion led by Kaylee Holland. Holland helped her Panthers jump out to what appeared to be an insurmountable 19-11 lead. Back would come St. Joseph, and the strong play from #3 Eve Owens. Owens and her five service points, which included three aces, helped to swing the momentum back in favor of St. Joseph. After trailing by as many as eight, the Panthers of St. Joseph stormed back to take the lead at 25-24. Serving for set point, however, St. Joseph could not manage to close out Pana JHS. Tied at 25 all, Madison Ashcraft of Pana put forth an ace that helped her Panthers retake the lead for good en route to a 27-25 first set victory. Moving on to set two, and St. Joseph was rolling early. Rylee Walsh was seemingly everywhere for her Panthers, as the standout eighth grader helped catapult her team to a 22-19 lead. Facing defeat once again, Pana JHS managed to tie the game thanks to a couple clutch serves from Grace Sims and Shania Schoonover. With the game tied up at 23 apiece, the Pana Panthers managed to grit out two more points en route to their 25-23 set victory. Three different Pana Panthers would finish with nine service points on the evening, while Rylee Walsh of St. Joseph netted eight to lead her squad.

Congratulations to both teams on a terrific match and tremendous seasons!
