Match Comments: In game two of today's Class 3A quarterfinal action, the Panthers of St. Joseph overcame a slow start to defeat the Trojans of Auburn JHS @ Divernon. In the first set of the match, the Trojans came out firing on all cylinders courtesy of Cassidy Filipiak and her strong serves. The Lady Trojan tallied five points including an ace that aided Auburn's early lead. Back would come the Panthers, and Shelby McElroy who tallied four points to cut her team's deficit to just two. In the end, set one would belong to the Trojans as Filipiak and company closed things out 25-23. Set two was a different story, as the Panthers got off to a smoking start, jumping out to a quick 8-2 lead. Meanwhile, the Trojans were suddenly struggling to find their rhythm that led to their previous victory. The Panthers would steadily keep the lead throughout the set to en route to a 25-20 win. Game three was a back and forth affair that saw both teams giving it their all. The Panthers managed to climb to a 19-13 lead, hoping it would be enough to put the Trojans away for good. But give Auburn JHS credit, as these Lady Trojans would not go quietly as they clawed their way back to tie things up a 22. That is as close as the Panthers would let it go, as Rylee Walsh and her St. Joseph teammates were able to secure the Panther win at 25-23. Walsh and Cassidy Filipiak tied for the match lead with 14 points, while Bree Trimble of St. Joseph tallied 12.

The Panthers of St. Joseph will now advance to this afternoon's semifinal contest against today's previous winner in Eureka. Game time for that anticipated contest begins at 1:00pm.

Congratulations to both teams on a superb contest!
