Match Comments: In the third quarter-final of the day the Wildcats of Normal Metcalf met the Raiders of Seneca. In the first set, both teams traded points until Hannah Berg rattled off several service points for Seneca. Megan Phelan had several kills for the Wildcats to keep the set close. The Raiders got the momentum back behind the hitting of Berg. Teagan Jordan put down a big kill to put the ball back in the hands of the Wildcats. This led to several aces from Kendy Ummel for the Wildcats. The Raiders got the ball back and Lexi Greve put the final kill away for the Raiders to end the first set. In the second set, Normal Metcalf got out to a quick lead behind the serving of Annastacia Hollins. Seneca regained the serve but could not generate any momentum. Isabel Gravez had a nice service run for the Wildcats to build a considerable lead. Hollins had two back-to-back kills to bring the Metcalf lead to 21-7. After a side-out, Maggie Cade took over serving duties for the Raiders and had several aces to chip away the lead of the Wildcats. Lexi Greve had several kills that further closed the Wildcat lead to 16-21. Molly Baker had a kill that brought the Raiders closer, 19-22. The tide of momentum was shifting toward the Raiders. After another side-out, Faith Hacker took over serving duties for the Raiders. She rattled off an ace that closed the gap to 21-22. The Raider fans were on their feet. Berg had a block that put the Raiders ahead 24-23. The Wildcats put together a good defensive effort late in the match. However, Gillian Culbreth had an ace for the Raiders that closed out the match.

Seneca moves on to the semi-finals later today.
