Match Comments: The Championship match featured the Comets of Quincy versus the Cavaliers of Normal Kingsley. Both teams were ready to go as the whistle sounded for the first serve. Amber Nanni led off for the Cavaliers and rattled off 6 service points to set the tone for the first set. The Comets did their best to counter calling on their net game. Callie Lambert had 2 kills and Allison Sparrow had a kill and 2 blocks to bring the Comets back into the set. The Cavaliers pulled away again behind the tough serving of Rachel Zimmerman who blistered in 4 consecutive service points. The net game took over for the Cavaliers behind Morgan Knuckey and Ali Reece who both had 2 kills a piece. Carly Goben finished off the set for the Cavaliers with an ace. The momentum stayed with the Cavaliers in the second set. It was Nanni who started off the serving strength with 3 consecutive service points early. This put the Comets on their heels early in the set. The Cavaliers continued to serve up aces. Nanni, Knuckey, Goben, and Sosa all had aces in the second set for the Cavaliers. This made it difficult for the Comets to establish any rhythm in their game. Again, they turned to their net play to make a come-back. Sparrow and Sidney Heck both had two kills in the second set but it was not enough to stop the Cavaliers. Normal Kingsley closed out the set and the match on a serving error from the Comets.
