Match Comments: The final semi-final match of the day saw the Suns of Augusta Southeastern topple the Saints of Bloomington Holy Trinity two games to none. The story of game one was the balanced offense of the Suns, led by Emily Biswell and Madison Fox. Both girls were constantly around the ball, as the Suns grabbed an early game one lead. Back came the Saints, as Maddie Holt smashed a key ace to pull the game to within a point. However, the combination of speed and scrappiness took over for Southeastern, as they were able to pull away late and win game one 25-17. Game two began very differently, as both teams began the key battle by trading points until each was knotted at 11. From there, it was all Suns led by Biswell and her seven game two service points. Augusta Southeastern would ride #19 all the way to a game two victory, 25-19.
With the victory, Augusta Southeastern now advances to the 8-2A state championship game this coming Tuesday. They will take on this morning's previous winner in the Tigers of Gardner, with game time beginning at 6:45 p.m. Bloomington Holy Trinity has a date with Lewistown Central with third place on the line, as that match gets going at 5:30 p.m. |
