Match Comments: In the first semi-final match of the day, the Gardner Lions surged past the Indians of Lewistown Central by the final score of two games to one. In this exciting semi-final battle, the Indians began the match by putting on a scoring clinic led by Ashlyn Towery and Emilie Palmer. The pair combined for an impressive five aces in game one, which fueled the Indians offense to their 25-19 victory. Back would come the Lions of Gardner however, as Marlana Ferrari and company found their grove late in game two. Back and forth both teams went until Gardner rallied for two straight points to take game two 26-24. With an 8-2A title shot hanging in the balance, Gardner continued their aggressive style of play into game three. Celia Barna smashed two of her eventual five aces in game three to lead her Indians to a 25-19 game three victory, thus sending Gardner to the state championship game. Ferrari and Jenni Price finished the match with a combined 20 service points that aided the Indians en route to their victory.
The win catapults Gardner into next Tuesday's state championship match, while Lewistown Central will compete for third place. Championship night kicks off with the third place match beginning at 5:30 p.m., while the state title match is set for 6:45 p.m.
