| Game Comments: The Winchester Wolverines improved their record to 26-0 and remained undefeated with a 42-36 victory over the Saints of Bloomington Holy Trinity. Winchester will now play in the 2A title game on Thursday , December 18 at 7:30 p.m. while the Saints will play for third place honors at 6:00 p.m. The game started off fast and furious as a high scoring first quarter was highlighted by a layup at the buzzer by Annika Kaufmann to give Winchester an 18-15 lead after one stanza. The Wolverines will look at the second quarter as a big reason they won as they outscored the Saints 8-3 in the period to take a 26-18 lead at the half. But, the Saints came out strong in the third quarter and held a 29-28 lead after a free throw from Bailey Coffman. That lead quickly evaporated as Winchester went on to score seven consecutive points to lead 35-29 heading into the 4th quarter. Kaufmann led all scorers with 22 points and Lillie Foley led the Saints with 10 points. Good luck to both teams on Thursday. |
