Game Comments: The Suns of Augusta Southeastern took on the Flyers of Bartonville Monroe in the third quarterfinal match-up. Southeastern jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, but a Big 3 followed by layup brought the Flyers right back in the game. A couple of key turnovers had the Suns right back with a 5 point lead. The second quarter of play saw both teams with numerous turnovers but the Suns maintained a slight lead going into the halftime.
In the last minute of the second half both teams turned on the afterburners. Monroe took the lead then Augusta tied it back up stole the ball and sank a lay-up to go 28-26 with 35 seconds to play. #5 shot a three, but Augusta got the long rebound with 17.7 seconds to play and drove the court. Augusta managed to hold out over Bartonville’s late push. Leading scorers for the night were Delaney Lantz with 16 points for the Suns and Jenna Mirande with 14 points for the Flyers. Congratulations to both teams on a great season. Augusta Southeastern will play in the 6:30 semi-final game tonight.
