Game Comments: The third place game between Springfield St. Agnes and Champaign St. Matthew saw the Aces jump out to an early lead, but even though the Raiders never took the lead they were able to stay close ad made a little run at the end of the 2nd quarter to go into the locker-room down four points. The third quarter saw each team with a little run as the Raiders stayed within 4 points of the Aces to give themselves a shot at a win. The fourth quarter started with quick 4 points by Champaign who tied the game for the first time at 20 apiece. The St. Agnes continued their pressure and got a quick steal and basket to take the lead back. With a 1:24 remaining St. Matthew started to foul to stop the clock, but #24 put both her free throw in the net to give St. Agnes a 26-20 lead. Neither team ever gave up in this game and it was hard fought battle for all 24 minutes, but both teams showed tremendous sportsmanship all night helping opposing players up after hard fouls and always handing the ball back to the officials after a foul or out of bounds play. Leading scorers for the game were #54 Nicole Swehla of Springfield St. Agnes and # 14 Isabell Atkins of Champaign St. Matthew. Both players ended the night with 14 points. Congratulations to both teams on a great season.
