Game Comments: In a game that was much closer than the final score, the Knights of Champaign Franklin, defeated the Trojans of Joilet Hufford, 32-24, to advance to the semifinals of the 2005 IESA Class 8AA girls basketball tournament. Franklin was led in scoring by Kierra Robinson but it was the play of Nakyra James in the 4th quarter that paved the way for Franklin. With 2:00 minutes remaing in the contest, Franklin held a slim 25-24 lead. Okeimu Hampton made a short layup to extend the lead to three at the 1:47 mark before James went to work. She made two free throws with 1:03 left in the game to give the Knights a 5 point lead and then scored on a driving layup and was fouled with 10 seconds remaining in the game. James made the free throw to give the Knights a berth in the semifinals and extend their winning streak to 19 games. Hufford bows out of the tournament with an excellent 16-3 record. Franklin will now play in the first semifinal game on Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m.
