Game Comments: In the second semifinal contest of the evening, the Cougars of Dixmoor Rosa Parks toppled the Monticello Sages by a final score of 38-33. In the first quarter, the Cougar's speed was on display, as the fast tempo offense ran by Rosa Parks helped aid their early 10-4 led. Cayshawn Mister contributed seven of his team's 10 first quarter points. Needing a spark offensively, the Sages's Calvin Fisher turned up the intensity, netting 10 of his teams 11 second quarter points. Those buckets by Fisher help close the gap on the Cougars, who still lead by four heading into halftime. That lead was assisted by a long three by Mister as time expired in the half. Regardless the Sages continued look to a single player to help carry them on offense, this time it was #22 Johnny Dawson contributing big on the score board. The standout shooting guard tallied eight of his team's eventual 12 third quarter points, as the Sages were now down by a single bucket. Back and forth both teams would go until Mister netted his second three pointer of the game that would inevitably seal the win for the Cougars. Cayshawn Mister finished the game with a high of 17, while Cougar teammate Qu'Shawn Wells netted 10. On the flip side, Johnny Dawson tallied 12 points to lead the Sages.

With the win, Dixmoor Rosa Parks will now take on Quincy Blessed Sacrament in next Thursday's Class 3A state championship game. The Sages of Monticello will battle against Marshall JHS for third place in Class 3A.
