Game Comments: In the third quarterfinal contest of Class 3A, the Cougars of Dixmoor Rosa Parks defeated the Hornets of Eureka Middle School by the final score of 42-33. The early stages of this game were extremely close, as only a point separated both teams throughout the first quarter. Keith Walder of Eureka found an early offensive groove for his Hornets, as the standout guard tallied eight of his team's 10 first quarter points. Trading blows right and left, the two teams entered halftime tied up at 21. Demarco Collins of Dixmoor Rosa Parks sank two late threes to help close the gap during the final minutes of the second. Momentum was on the side of the Cougars, as it carried over to the second half. In the third quarter alone, the Cougars outscored Eureka 12-5, which inevitably put the game away. Collins continued his offensive onslaught, tallying 17 points on the afternoon, which led both teams. Meanwhile, Keith Walder would finish with 15 points for the Hornets, including 5 for 6 from the foul line.

The Cougars of Dixmoor Rosa Parks now advance to this evening's second semifinal contest, as they await the winner of this afternoon's quarterfinal battle between Monticello and Piasa Southwestern. Game time for the semifinal contest tips off at 6:30pm.

Congratulations to both teams on a hard fought game!
