Game Comments: Game two of the Class 3A quarterfinals saw the Cubs of Marshall JHS outlast the Cornjerkers of Hoopeston by the final score of 49-41. In the early goings of this heated contest, both teams were trading baskets left and right. Riley Wyss and Wes Ravens contributed 10 of the Cornjerker's 16 first quarter points, but still found themselves trailing the Cubs by two entering the second quarter. The offensive showcase continued into the second, with both teams finding their stroke from the perimeter. For Marshall, Wade Tharp made his presence felt both by scoring and distributing the basketball. Exiting halftime with the two teams separated by just a single bucket, the Cubs slowly began to take control of this game. Tharp along with Gabe Kash combined for a huge third quarter with momentum extending into the fourth. With the under two minutes to play and Marshall up five, the Cornjerkers feverously drove the ball up the court needing a basket. It wasn't to be, however, as Kash stole the ball at the top of the key and converted two points on the other end. Tharp would finish with a game high 21 points, while Riley Wyss would lead his Cornjerkers with 13 points.

With the victory, Marshall JHS advances to this evening's semifinal contest against today's previous winner in Quincy Blessed Sacrament. Game time for that contest begins at 5:00pm.

Congratulations to both teams on a well played game!
