Game Comments: Jacksonville Our Saviour won a hard fought semifinal game against Chester-East Lincoln, 42-39, and in doing so set up a monster matchup in the title game of the 8th grade Class 1A state tournament. Our Saviour, with their undefeated record of 27-0, will now face the undefeated Annawan Braves who will enter the game at 26-0, on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m. Chester-East Lincoln (21-2) will play for third place honors on Thursday starting at 6:00 p.m. The Shamrocks used a huge 2nd quarter to gain control of the game as they outscored the Panthers, 18-7, in the quarter to take a 24-14 lead into the locker room at the half. The Panthers chipped away at the lead in the 3rd and 4th quarters mainly behind the 3 point shooting of Joshua Vinson who sank five of his seven three pointers in the second half. The Panthers were forced to foul late to get the ball back but Ryan Beckman went 4-4 from the charity stripe to preserve the lead for the Shamrocks. It was a well-played game. Congratulations to both teams and good luck on Thursday.
