Game Comments: The Eagles of Brussels advanced to the semifinals of the 8th grade Class 1A tournament with a 50-33 victory over the Saints of Pontiac St. Marys. With the win, the Eagles will now face Annawan at 5:00 p.m. in the first semifinal contest of the day. Brussels will take a 16-9 record into that contest while the Saints close their season with a 14-10 record. Tony Rose led the Eagles with 18 points and Scott Kiel added 14 to pace Brussels. St. Marys only had two 2 pt. field goals but added nine 3 pt. field goals. They were led in scoring by Seth Mehrkens with 13 points and Logan Verdun with 12. The Class 1A record for most 3 pt. field goals in a game is 13 set by West Lincoln-Broadwell in 2007. Congratulations to both teams.
