Game Comments: With a Class 2A state championship on the line, the Trojans of Elmwood used a big fourth quarter to defeat the Vikings of Peoria St. Vincent de Paul by the final score of 50-35. Early on in this one, both teams were grinding out every possession. That style of play led to a low scoring first quarter that saw Elmwood take an 11-5 first quarter lead. Cameron Jacobson was hot from the three point line early as his two first quarter 3's help give the Trojans an early advantage. Back would come the Vikings, however, as aggressive play form Matthew Pudik helped Peoria St. Vincent outscore the Trojans 14-11 in the second quarter. Pudik tallied six points in the second, while teammate Joe Gustafson netted five. Heading into half, the Vikings had cut the margin to three points and had momentum on their side. Both teams exited the half aggressive on offense, trading baskets until the final two minutes of the third quarter. It was at this point that this battle tested Elmwood squad would take firm control of this game. A big time three pointer by Charlie McKinty gave the Trojans a five point lead heading into the fourth quarter, and Elmwood never looked back. A gritty combination of tenacious defense and converted foul shots helped the Trojans outscore the Vikings 17-7 in the fourth quarter. Jacob Brown had another sensational game, as he netted 21 points for the Trojans while David Czirjak's 9 points were a team high for the Vikings.

Congratulations to both teams on terrific seasons!
