Game Comments: In what was an exciting Class 2A quarterfinal contest, the Wildcats of Decatur Robertson overcame a six point, fourth quarter deficit to surge past the Warriors of Streator Woodland by a final score of 48-40. Early on in this game, it was Decatur Robertson controlling the tempo, as Kari Taliferro netted six of his team's 10 first quarter points. Back and forth, both teams began trading buckets to begin the second quarter, with Streator Woodland's Kyle Voytko making his presence felt. The Warrior forward tallied an impressive nine second quarter points, as Streator Woodland pulled within one late. After a 6-3 run by the Wildcats that left single digits on the clock, Streator Woodland's Jeremy Durdan raced up the court and banked a long three all while being fouled in the process. Following Durdan's converted free throw, both teams were tied up at 24 entering half time. With the momentum on their side following a wild end to the first quarter, the Warriors of Streator Woodland cranked up the intensity to start the third quarter. Jeremy Durdan continued his strong game contributing eight of his team's eventual 13 third quarter points. Durdan's hot hand along with some stingy defense from the Warriors gave Streator Woodland a 37-31 lead heading into the fourth. From there, the Wildcats of Decatur Robertson put on a clinic at both ends of the court. The offensive combination of Travis Green, Keon Jones and Kari Taliferro converted big shot after big shot for the Wildcats. Meanwhile, the Warrior's suddenly high powered offense stalled, as they were outscored 17-3 in the fourth quarter. Kari Taliferro finished with a game high 23 points for Decatur Robinson, while Jeremy Durdan of Streator Woodland tallied 20.

With the victory, Decatur Robertson moves on to face Elmwood in tonight's Class 2A semifinal contest. Game time for that anticipated matchup is 5:00pm.

Congratulations to both teams on a tremendous game played.
