Game Comments: In the first Class 2A semifinal contest of the evening, the Elmwood Trojans used a big fourth quarter to bypass the Wildcats of Decatur Robertson by the final score of 59-44. Like a true heavyweight fight, this anticipated matchup went back-and-forth with each team exchanging leads seemingly every possession. Decatur Robertson went heavy on fast break points, while the Trojans of Elmwood feverishly tried to slow down the pace of the game. The early result was an 11-9 Elmwood lead heading into the second quarter. Back would come the Wildcats, however, thanks to the explosive play of Travis Green and Kari Taliferro. The impressive pair tallied eight of Decatur Robertson's 14 second quarter points that powered a two point lead with just seconds remaining in the first half. The lead would not hold long, however, as Trojan Jacob Brown drove the length of the floor and nailed a quick jumper as time expired. Exiting the half tied up at 23, both teams looked energized, hitting jumpers left and right. Jacob Brown would continue his strong game with seven third quarter points that aided the Trojan's one point lead heading into the fourth. From then on, it was all Elmwood, as the Trojans outscored the Wildcats 24-10 en route to punching their ticket to the Class 2A championship game. Jacob Brown finished with a tournament high 29 points while Keon Jones of Decatur Robinson remained efficient with 17 points.

With the victory, Elmwood advances and awaits the winner of this evening's second semifinal contest between Peoria St. Vincent de Paul and Fisher JHS. The runner-up in tonight's contest will battle Decatur Robertson for the Class 2A third place title.
