Game Comments: In the final Class 2A quarterfinal contest of the day, the Scotties of Fisher Junior High School outlasted the Spartans of Madison by the final score of 42-41. Early on in the first quarter, neither team looked particularly sharp offensively. Turnovers played a big role in those early struggles for both squads, as first quarter buckets were difficult to come by. Bucking the trend of stagnant offense in the early goings was Fisher forward Dalton Burk, who tallied six of his team's nine first quarter points. Leading 9-5 heading into the second quarter, the Scotties continued to be aggressive thanks much in part to the slick shooting of Burk and teammate Hunter Foster. After building a seven point lead following a third quarter in which the two teams nearly matched point totals, the Spartan offense finally awoke in the fourth. The offensive run was fueled by Emmitt Gordon and his seven fourth quarter points. With Fisher nursing a late four point lead, the Madison Spartans rallied for an unbelievable five point sequence that consisted of a three pointer followed by a quick layup off a Scottie turnover. Suddenly, the Spartans had taken the lead for the first time since early in the first. With under a minute to play, Fisher managed to drive the length of the court and nail a baseline jumper courtesy of #35 Dylan Baker. With only single tics remaining on the clock, the Spartans last attempt at a final bucket fell just short. Dalton Burk led all scorers with 21 points, while Emmitt Gordon tallied 13 points for the Spartans.

With the win, the Scotties of Fisher Junior High School will advance to tonight's second semifinal contest against Peoria St. Vincent de Paul. Tipoff begins at 6:30pm.

Congratulations to both teams on a well-played contest!
