Match Comments: The 8-1A Championship match saw the Bison of Grayville take on the Stags of Hartsburg-Emden. Both of these teams are aggressive servers and battled in the beginning of the set, but Hartsburg was able to dig everything that #22 Carsyn Robinson and #24 Sidney Foster hit over the net. The Stags were led at the net by #11 Anna Hayes and #3 Hattie Langley came in to serve seven straight service points with two aces to end the set.
After spraining her ankle in the warm-up #25 Katie Rhodes came up big early in the second set with a big kill up the middle. But #11 Hayes for Hartsburg had a quick answer and the ball was back in the Stags serving hands. #22 Sammy Perschall served seven straight with two aces giving the Stags the lead. Once again Hartsburg’s back row dug most everything that Grayville hit at them. #24 Foster was able to add a couple kills, but the Stags aggressive serving continued to bother Grayville who struggled with their serve receive game. The Bison made a little run at the end, but the deficit was too much to overcome and the Stags win their fourth consecutive 8-1A state title.
