Match Comments: In the first quarterfinal contest of the afternoon, the Falcons of Springfield Little Flower defeated the Wildcats of Lovejoy in two sets. In set one, Bailey Morrow made a big impact, as the standout Falcon tallied eight service points to lead her squad. Also contributing offensively was Ashley Robinson, whose aces managed to keep the Wildcats on their toes. The Falcons would eventually go on to win set one by the final score of 25-16. Set two was much tighter, as the Wildcats of Lovejoy began to find their groove on offense. Kendra Reed was as active as any player for the Wildcats, as she notched five service points to keep her squad close. In the end, however, the strong play from Robinson and company was too much for the Wildcats to overcome as they fell in set two by the final score of 25-18. Ashley Robinson finished with a game high 13 service points as well as three aces, while Kendra Reed and Nashara Loston both tallied five points to lead Lovejoy.
With the victory, the Falcons of Springfield Little Flower advance to this evening's semifinal contest. They await the winner of this afternoon's quarterfinal matchup between Cissna Park and Hartsburg-Emden. Game time for the much anticipated semifinal contest begins at 5:15 p.m.
